A Willing Heart

an advent reflection on Luke 1:74-75

Love, grant us that we, being rescued from the hands of our enemies, may serve You without fear, in holiness and righteousness before You all of our days.

Dear One,

I am writing to remind you of things you already know. Your enemies are not the people in your life who trigger you or whom you don’t like. The enemies of your best self are your limiting beliefs, negative thought patterns, unhealthy habits, and vices, such as pride, vanity, and doubt.

To be rescued from the hands of your enemies invites an attitude of surrender, not battle. When you surrender to a Power greater than yourself, you need only the virtue of faith. Love will empower you to transcend your inner enemies through awareness, self-compassion, and diligence. All that is needed is your willing heart.

Remember, this moment is an opportunity to connect to Love, and therefore, to live into the fullness of who you are.

As always, do what best awakens you to love,

Your Inner Wisdom
