A Lesson From A Rooster

Leaf sparkles are raining from the pecan tree this morning.

The fog of the last two days has finally lifted,

and the sky is revealing itself baby blue.

The mosquitoes are still swarming in low-lying clusters just above the damp grass,

an effect of the season.

I smile as I hear the rooster announce his presence so unabashedly.

We could all learn a lesson from that rooster;

I mean, every one of us showing up unashamedly as ourselves each day

and generously gifting the world with the beauty of who we are,

crowing out awe and gratitude for the blessing of life for everyone to hear,

even loudly,

to wake up our brothers and sisters whose awareness is still sleeping.
